Ossan's Love

This is, from what I've read, important to MLM stories for Japanese media. It was the first one produced that helped change people's attitudes toward the genre. I've known about it for a while, but put it off as there are so many Ossan's series, I had a time figuring out what order they all went in. This review is for the original 2018 miniseries. While a gay story, it is also considered a BL story, but that's a bit of a stretch as most characters are in their 30's or 50's. It is about a guy who has lived a straight life, but his older male supervisor falls in love with him, as does his co-worker (and roommate) falls as well as his female childhood friend - all at the same time! I'm not sure why, honestly I found the main character to be the most annoying of the entire cast. He's socially awkward and spends much of the movie trying for over-the-top slapstick humor and pulling stupid faces. Seriously, if I encountered someone like that in real life, I would probably keep my distance. There are quite a few subplots and most of them end on very hopeful notes. There are 7 episodes, 6 of the main story and then the last one jumps ahead one year in time. While fairly enjoyable, their attempts at greatly outlandish humor actually distracts from the story. If you watch it, you'll see what I'm talking about with the main character.
