Kuroki calls Mariko, only saying that Hiroko is safe. Mariko calls the police and learns that Kuroki has gone to Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. There is a golf course owned by Maeda in Yamagata. Gentaro and the others try to send Mariko to America under a pretext, but Mariko runs away from home. Gentaro resolves to go to Tsuruoka, but Kanae collapses from stress.
