Love in Spring
Jin Geum Seong is a poor nobleman who lives with his mother and making ends meet is challenging. While gathering wood on the mountain, he spies a woman swimming nearby. Believing she is about to take her life, he creates a disturbance allowing him to save Choi Hye Seong, the third daughter of Choi Jin Sa. Only things are not as they seem when she turns out to be a man named 'Salbyul,' Love will bloom between Hye Seong and Geum Seong, much like a flower on a warm spring day.

This is marketed toward a gay audience, but it really isn't a gay story. It is a very good story with some comedy, mystery and intrigue, but really not much in the way of romance. I won't give much away, and it is also a very complex story so it does take some effort to follow along with some of the plotlines they have. It's about a guy was forced to be a slave and it opens with him escaping from his captors, the how and why is explained slowly through flashbacks throughout much of the story. Through a series of odd plot twists, he ends up hiding for a year as a woman in a nearby town when he is forced into a marriage to a guy. Eventually, but not right away, the truth comes out and in time they do become really good friends - but that's it, just friends (really). The gay story? Well, the guy's former captor has a son with severe issues who is seemingly in love with the escapee. Now I have to pause here; this is period-piece, but in today's world the son would probably be committed as he was a danger to himself and others, but he clearly is mentally unstable. There is a very good chance the son is gay, or it could just be a deep connection he feels to his former captive, it's hinted that he's gay, but nothing is clearly defined. That's kind of a very minor subplot and I'm not sure that would really qualify as saying that this is a 'gay series'. No other character is gay and two main stars are not. However, if you do watch it - you do get a very good story.
