The blue depths of the swimming pool is her home. Keesje is a passionate synchronised swimmer, and the big competition is just around the corner. However, when a fight erupts between the girls during the final rehearsal, everything changes.

For some reason, this reminded me of the "Shiny Shrimps" (2019). I don't know why because they were gay and played water-polo and these girls far more earnestly team up for some synchronised swimming. "Keesje" (Isis Braam) is very keen on that, and together with her friends they make up a team that is eagerly awaiting a forthcoming competition. Then they have a falling out. It's all really rather trivial, but when "Keesje" has a good old over-react, the glitter that holds their synchronised group together starts to peel away - just as they walk out onto the side of the pool. This is a perfectly adequate production but it hardly ventures into new territory. It seems content to just reinforce some stereotypes about how fickle teenage friendships can be and of how best friends of today can be shunned and even pummelled tomorrow - especially when a misunderstanding is spiced with a bit of jealousy and some matching swimming costumes. Not much to see here, really, sorry.
