When the miserly Mr. Hu buys Mei-ngo a fake diamond ring, a real one is sent by mix-up, while the fake falls into different hands, triggering misunderstandings. To conceal Ching-mei's lie about marrying a manager, the group borrows Hu's mansion and stages a respectable family. Ai-A-Tsai's mustache, slight frame, and exaggerated gestures recall Chaplin, while the master-servant reversal briefly turns Taipei's class order upside down.
