A short observational account of one Saturday night in the mundane life of Stuart. He gets drunk, goes out to clubs,, searches for love and falls asleep unfulfilled on the floor of the club.
The fly on the wall approach to this simple short film makes it all the more compelling in a historical sense. It may just be the mundane account of a gay man going for a night out, but the scene depicted is a rare and authentic one that saw no presence in 70s Australian Cinema. It's transgressive presence to showcase the life of unfiltered queerness is why Satdee Night should deserve more historical evaluation in Australian cinema.
