In the summer of 1999, sixteen-year-old Nate and his friends attempt to shoot an ambitious indie horror film in the Oregon woods on a cheap VHS camcorder. The recruitment of classmate Claire sparks a subtle romance with Nate and shifts the group dynamic. As the summer progresses, the realities of growing up and taking on part-time jobs threaten to derail the production, forcing the teens to adapt their movie—and their friendships—before the season ends.
