Andrew Park strives to reach artistic heights as an actor, but for nearly a decade, he’s been pigeonholed as “Samurai Shinji” – the tacky mascot from the Frontiers Insurance commercials. As the allure of his long-lived character steadily fades, Andrew’s desire to break free from this Asian caricature and pivot toward the silver screen has morphed into an unhealthy obsession. Therefore, when he receives a callback for a highly anticipated film, Andrew believes his career is finally course correcting. However, once he discovers that his “iconic” character prevented him from ever having a real shot at the role – or any role for that matter – he spirals. Is he still Andrew Park, or is he merely that Asian guy from the insurance commercials? Amidst this unraveling, he confronts his psyche and surrenders his ambition at last…while undergoing a mushroom-induced ego death.
