San Francisco Bay Area poet, Janice Mirikitani, gives personal reflections on her experiences as a Japanese American woman. Interspersed with readings of her own poetry, the documentary paints an image of an Asian American literary trailblazer – a survivor of internment during World War II and a member of the Third World Women’s Collective – who broke ground and paved the way for future Asian American women artists.
