GIRLAND '81

This is my first completed work: 3 cartridges of expired reversal film are spliced together with short clips from anonymous footage. Hand-painted and altered through direct action on the emulsion: showers, scratches, juices, sperm, hair, etc. The expired cartridges were originally just tests to try out two of my cameras, nothing too thoughtful. Once developed, however, I was fascinated by their blue cast, so I decided to make a 'blue movie'. The first part is a mandala of 3Million colors, the second a scene in the park, interrupted by Blue Kid, the last one is a behind-the-scenes shot on the river. These are places I often go to; I consider them part of this Girl Land.
