Isle of the Dead is a visually overwhelming experience accompanied by the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, where the raw and untamed western Norwegian landscape plays an essential role. The film is an allegory - an audiovisual portrayal of humanity, fragile and transient, confronted by the power of nature, here represented by the thunderous sea.
