The socio- political family thriller movie "Pantham" is primarily confined to a harijan colony named Kalan Parambu Harijan Colony which is situated in a remote area in Malappuram. The central character Balan and his family are residents in the colony. Balan and his companions earn their bread by making and selling unlicensed spirits.
