Srebrenica Genocide: No Place for Denial

In July 1995, Republika Srpska Army forces, VRS, took control of the town of Srebrenica, in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. During several days of horror, more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were taken to detention facilities, abused, tortured, and executed. As their bodies fell into mass graves, the machinery of denying these crimes was put into operation. The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, or ICTY, has investigated these crimes, conducted criminal proceedings, and handed down verdicts for them.
