
In the summer of 1980, Tallinn hosted yachtsmen participating in the 22nd Summer Olympics. The competition was held at the new Olympic Sailing Center in Pirita, specially built for such a significant event. As part of the cultural program, a large landing party of pop artists from the Union republics and socialist countries landed in Olympic Tallinn.
