The Daniel E. Koshland Civic Unity Awards were established in 1982 by the foundation, memorializing one of its founders and benefactors, Daniel E. Koshland, a philanthropist who was committed to making the Bay Area a better place. Over the past 30 years, the Koshland Program has invested in 24 neighborhoods throughout five Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo.
