Faerie captures an unconscious Shinra. Sho appears and attacks. Shinra gets advice from a surprising source.

Shinra loses consciousness while observing the world before the Great Cataclysm. The next time he wakes, three months have passed and the fifth giant pillar has appeared. On top of all of that, Shinra himself is tied up in an unfamiliar room. Confused by his situation, Shinra begins to panic. Just then, someone arrives.

Upon hearing that the sixth and seventh giant pillars have appeared simultaneously, Fire Force soldiers are dispatched. They attempt to deal with the situation by by borrowing manpower from Haijima and the Imperial Army, but handling two pillars at once proves difficult and they find themselves shorthanded. Just then, Benimaru spots a certain Infernal near the seventh pillar.

The fierce battle between Benimaru and Hibachi has brought Adolla closer, and the reflection of the moon in the gouged out surface of the sea seems strange. Observing these events leads Licht to understand the truth of the doppelgangers and the objective of the Great Cataclysm. Around that same time, Sho is striving to learn about his family before the world is destroyed.

The last massive pillar has appeared. Every moment brings the Great Cataclysm closer. Special Fire Force Company 2 pours everything they have into unleashing one powerful blow against the giant Infernal, but it isn't enough. Then the sun sets completely, enveloping the world in darkness and despair. At that moment, a single ray of light appears and Emperor Raffles I descends.

After Raffles I is laid to rest, Shinra, Sho, and Iris suddenly disappear along with the rest of the Pillars. And now, with all eight assembled, the Great Cataclysm is only one step away. Even in this hopeless situation, the 8th wants to go look for Shinra and the others, but without any clues, they have no way to take action. Then, someone extends a helping hand to them, but who?

In order to bring Shinra and the others back, and to prevent the Great Cataclysm, Special Fire Force Company 8 marches on Amaterasu. As Ogun and the others hold the White Clad at bay, Vulcan's team begins investigating inside Amaterasu. Using a map that Joker gave them, they reach the core area. They even successfully unlock the doors to the area, but in that moment, Dr. Giovanni appears.

Dr. Giovanni has become an Infernal and taken over Yu's body. He inserts the key into Amaterasu's power generator and triggers the Great Cataclysm. When he does, the world and the images of Adolla begin to merge into one, and large-scale fires break out all over the Empire. As cries of despair rise from the people, the Special Fire Force soldiers are powerless with no course of action left.

Colossal fires throw the Tokyo Empire into chaos. Cries of despair from the people spread until they threaten to swallow the Fire Force soldiers, too. At that moment, Obi encourages his comrades to rise up. His words get the fire soldiers get back on their feet, and they begin rescue operations to bring hope to the people. Then, as if to mock them, demons who bring despair to the world appear.
