Marina is distraught upon learning she will be moving to Rio de Janeiro. José talks to Mário and says he no longer trusts his father. Ivan receives terrible news.
Carlos Eduardo plots against Mário, and Otavio puts the plan into action. Matilde turns to prayer so that Mário can find a job. Marina weeps upon learning the truth about her mother's death.
Estevão is outraged upon reading a review of his book. Mário starts a new job, unaware that he is the victim of a setup. João leaves his bar and acts mysteriously, without saying where he is going.
Marlene turns down Carlos Eduardo's proposal. Fernanda and José reunite. Lelena and Luís celebrate an achievement. John Wayne confesses his feelings to Maria, who says she loves José.
Fernanda leaves Brazil, and José suffers. Lelena feels contractions. Estevão and Marina regain possession of the island. Ivan surprises Marlene. Marcelo and Marina get married.
