Season 1

Cornelius says goodbye to his best friend Magnus and travels alone to the USA for a whole year. In Italy, Annabell meets her host family, and especially the host brother Matteo is a bit exciting. At the same time, Bertram lands in Argentina, where he suddenly gets a lot more attention than he is used to back home in North Jutland. The adventure has begun, but along with the adventure come both fears and expectations. Have they made the right decision?

Cornelius' new life resembles a real American movie with American football, yellow school buses and high school. But beneath the surface he also feels the fear of school shootings. Alberta is struck by the huge difference between rich and poor in Brazil. And several of the young people struggle with loneliness and the feeling of not fitting in, because the language becomes a wall between them and the others.

Bertram goes to a party in the hope of finally finding friends in Argentina, but the party starts off completely wrong. Annabell and the host's brother Matteo have an argument. Maybe he means more to her than she thought? Alberte struggles to find the energy for all the new people and many impressions. Meanwhile, Cornelius falls more and more into the USA and finds a friend who knows exactly what it feels like to be far from home.

Half of the year on exchange has already passed, and there is still much the young people want to achieve. Cornelius gets closer to his American host father during an honest talk about life and death, while Annabell struggles to tell Matteo how she really feels about him. Alberte throws herself into new experiences to make friends, and Frida feels a self-confidence she has never felt before.

Annabell tells Matteo that she is in love with him, and suddenly everything changes. Bertram pushes himself a little too far to create a good life in Argentina. In Japan, Frida struggles with the thought that she will soon have to say goodbye to her perfect Japanese life. Cornelius ends up setting fire to the host family's garden. Will this destroy their trust in him?

Annabell and Matteo enjoy their last time together. Can they still be lovers when there are 2000 km between them? Bertram discovers that Argentina has become much more than just a place he has lived. And Cornelius returns home to Denmark and hopes that his good friendship with Magnus is still the same. Is the hardest thing really leaving - or coming home again?
