
Caillou inadvertently brings a cricket in the house and decides itll be fun to keep it as a pet. When the cricket gets loose and Caillou goes on a wild-cricket hunt, hes suddenly able to see things from the crickets perspective... and decides to put the cricket back outside where it belongs.
When Sarah gets a new dog, Caillou is actually a little jealous. All Sarah wants to do is play with her new pup! Caillou feels a little annoyed with the dog... until he dog-sits for an afternoon and realizes Sarahs dog is actually pretty great. He and Sarah talk about their feelings, and they decide itd be fun for all of them to play together.
After looking at a spider alien comic book with his older pal, Andre, Caillou feels afraid of real spiders. Hes nervous around the house, until Daddy tells him some spider facts and shows him how cool spiders can really be... and Caillou has to agree; they ARE pretty cool!
Caillou and Leo want to play hockey and are disappointed when they arrive at the rink to find Sarah and Clementine playing ringette. Caillou has never heard of ringette before, and he doesnt want to play the game... until he learns that Mommy used to play! She teaches him a few moves, and when Caillou and Leo realize its a lot like hockey, theyre eager to join the girls next game.
Caillou and his family are supposed to be enjoying a nice day at the beach, but its cloudy and rainy. Mommy and Daddy think of going home, until Caillou and Rosie show them they can have fun no matter where they are even a wet and soggy beach!
Mommy takes Caillou and Clementine to an indoor rock climbing wall, but Caillou doesnt want to give it a try. Its much too intimidating! Caillou overcomes his fear by literally taking things one step at a time.
Caillous older friend Andre is coming over to play, but Caillou is a little worried that his toys are too little kid-ish. He quickly hides his toys, filling his room with big-boy stuff (like car magazines and grown-up games)... only to find out Andre isnt quite ready for big-boy stuff either.
When Mommy gets a new pair of specs, Caillou wants glasses too. He pretends he has bad vision, tries to make a pair out of pipe cleaner, and even borrows an old pair of Mommys glasses (minus the lenses). When Caillou tapes pretend lenses to the frames and cant see where hes going around the house he finally realizes the importance of having good vision.
Miss Martin is throwing a dance party. Caillou is excited, only... he doesnt know how to dance! Caillou elicits advice from various family members, and feels more confused than ever when they each show him a different way to dance. When Caillou sees Miss Martin dancing any ol (silly) way she wants, Caillou realizes its more important to have fun than to worry about dance steps and styles.
Caillou doesnt want to hold hands and obey safety rules... until he discovers a bunch of tiny frogs that need help crossing the street. Realizing its hard work helping others to cross the road safely, he has a new appreciation for Mommy and Daddys rules.
Caillou forgets to wash his glittery hands after Miss Martin asks him to, and he leaves a trail of glitter around the preschool. The shiny specks become a mystery until Miss Martin discovers the children playing glitter tag... and Caillou is it! When Miss Martin asks the children to pretend the glitter is cold germs, Caillou realizes the importance of hand washing.
When Caillou complains about having to tidy up, Miss Martin suggests an experiment they wont tidy up the classroom for a few days, and theyll see what happens. At first, the kids think this is fantastic... until they cant find their puzzle pieces, they keep stepping on toys, and they cant even do their morning exercises. Caillou finally realizes its time to tidy up, and decides to lead the clean-up crew!
Caillou decides to trade his tiny toy shovel for some stickers... but changes his mind when he sees what his friend, Jay, can do with that toy shovel! Then Caillou tries to get the shovel back even though they agreed to no tradebacks and eventually hurts his friends feelings. When Caillou realizes Jay is upset, he decides to stick to his word, knowing that their friendship and his word - is more important.
Caillou desperately wants a pair of snazzy light-up sneakers like the ones Clementine has... until he realizes she cant jump in puddles while wearing them (for fear of ruining the lights), or get the shoes dirty, or kick a ball for fear of scratching them. Caillou decides his old sneakers are just fine because he can do so many fun things in them!
Rollie Racers (toy cars) are the latest craze, and Caillou wants them... lots of them! Caillou begs his parents to take him to the mall, and they finally agree but only after Caillou helps Daddy with a very special chore! Caillou helps Daddy fix their car... and he begins to have so much fun, he forgets all about going to the mall for Rollie Racers.
Caillou wants to learn to play a song on his little keyboard... only Rosie wont leave him alone. She keeps distracting him, trying to chime in with her drum, and pots and pans, and silly singing. When Caillou sees his sister playing on a pretend keyboard - just like Caillou - he decides to let Rosie join in his music fun.
Caillou tries to befriend his new classmate, Andy, but finds he isnt getting very far. When Caillou tries to see things through Andys eyes, and realizes he prefers quiet activities like drawing Caillou finally finds a way for them to be friends.
Caillou wants someone to play with, but he doesnt want to play dollies with Rosie... again! In an effort to get away from his pesky little sister, Caillou hides. As Rosie searches around the house for Caillou, her efforts soon turn into a fun game of hide-and-seek... giving both siblings something fun to do!
Grandma brings over some delicious treats for the kids to try - only theyre full of olives. Caillou doesnt like olives, but he doesnt know how to tell Grandma he doesnt like her cherished dishes... until... he cant stand to eat another one! Caillou blurts out the truth and realizes Grandma isnt upset everyone has likes and dislikes even her!
Caillou and Leo accidentally break Rosies clay poodle while playing. Instead of telling the truth, they try to make another clay poodle for Rosie... but end up with a few misshapen oddities e.g. a lionoodle and an elephantoodle. When Caillou and Leo finally confess, it turns out Rosie is equally happy with her new and unique clay creatures.
Mrs. Howard brings over an old train set for Caillou to play with. Caillou has much fun with it... until he breaks the train! Instead of telling Mrs. Howard, Caillou attempts to hide from her. When his rouse fails, Caillou confesses to breaking the train and is surprised to learn that Mrs. Howards son broke it many a time as a child... and she knows how to fix it!
Caillou flies Sarahs kite... and accidentally crashes it into a tree. Determined to get a new kite for Sarah, Caillou is disappointed when Mommy cant find a store that sells them. When Daddy suggests they make a kite, Caillou isnt convinced itll be better than a store-bought kite... until its finally finished! Sarah and Caillou are thrilled with their homemade kite because they made it together.
Caillou has some friends over and they want to play a game, only its not quite working out for them. Mommy is painting Caillous bedroom and he cant get to his toybox; Sarahs dog chews up his ball; and a tug-of-war results in a frayed skipping rope. When Caillou sees Mommy mixing paint from odds and ends, he decides to be creative too. He and pals create their own fun game!
Caillou promises to return Leos special marker after borrowing it... only, he cant seem to remember to bring it to preschool! After a few failed attempts at remembering, Caillou finally realizes with the help of Miss Martin and her sticky notes that he needs something visual to help him remember... and a shiny sticker is just the trick!
Caillou doesnt seem to appreciate how much time Mommy spends doing things for him (like cooking and picking up clothes)... until Caillou spends a lot of time making a paper mache bunny for Rosie. When Rosie couldnt care less about Caillous bunny, he finally realizes how it feels when someone is unappreciative of the hard work thats done for them. Caillou decides to make amends with Mommy.
When Rosie accidentally scratches Caillous bike, Caillou is determined to take back all of his toys and keep their things separate... until he accidentally breaks Daddys guitar string. Then Caillou realizes accidents happen sometimes. He forgives Rosie and decides to share his toys once again.
Caillou thinks its hilarious when he teaches Rosie how to blow raspberries... much to his parents chagrin. When Rosie blows a raspberry at Caillous artwork during a preschool open house, Caillou finally realizes its not always appropriate... and decides hes going to be a better role model for his younger sister.
Caillou and Daddy are finishing up a model of the solar system for show-and-tell... until the little red ball theyre using for Mars disappears. Where did it go? Caillou continually blames Rosie... and he discovers it was Gilbert who ran off with the little planet! Caillou apologizes to his sister, realizing he shouldnt jump to conclusions.
Caillou is confused when Emma is allowed to have extra snacks at preschool. Hes even more confused when Miss Martin explains that Emma has Type 1 Diabetes. Worried about his friend, Caillou becomes very protective of Emma, not wanting her to do anything not even go down the slide! But when Emma outruns Caillou in a race, he soon realizes Emmas diabetes isnt like a cold or flu. Its something Emma has to live with every day... and shes doing a pretty good job of it.
When things begin to go missing around the house like Mommys keys - Mommy blames Gilbert. Caillou is sure Gilbert didnt take them... and he sets out to prove it! Together, Caillou, Mommy and Rosie backtrack through the house and eventually discover Caillous theory was right Gilbert didnt take the keys -- Mommy left them in the door handle!
Caillou is annoyed! Clementine is being a copycat and Caillou doesnt like it. When Clementine copies his artwork at preschool, Caillou thinks this is the last straw... until Clementine admits shes copying him because she really likes his artwork! With help from Miss Martin, Caillou realizes this is a compliment and he feels much better about Clementines copycat ways.
Caillou is excited about the opportunity to draw a poster for his friend Ted, at the grocery store. When Caillou gets his friends to help him with the poster, but doesnt share the credit, Leo is upset. Caillou realizes he needs to make things right again and he has the perfect solution: he includes his friends in a photo shoot with their collective masterpiece.
Caillou and Sarah work together to decorate Caillous new playhouse. They even plan a playhouse playdate for all of their friends! When the big day arrives - and Sarah has the chicken pox Caillou decides to go ahead with the party... but soon realizes it isnt the same without Sarah, especially since she contributed so much.
Mrs. Howard has sprained her ankle, and Caillou wants to help her around the house. Only, Caillou worries that his help is creating havoc until Mrs. Howard explains that Caillou has been a big help simply by being there as a friend.
Caillou is determined to win a ribbon in the Charity Fun Run and is disappointed when Daddy sprains his ankle. Grandpa offers to take Daddys place, but he isnt a very fast runner. Now theyll never win a ribbon! As Caillou and Grandpa dawdle through town, Caillou comes to realize that everyone is a winner when they run for charity because theyre doing something nice for the community.
Caillou is looking forward to being Leos partner during a field trip to the museum. When Miss Martin asks Caillou to be Laylas partner instead - because shes new to preschool Caillou is disappointed. When Caillou recalls what it feels like to be the new kid, he decides to give Layla a chance and he isnt disappointed! Being with Layla is fun, and Caillou returns from the trip having made a new friend.
Miss Martin agrees to loan Caillou a preschool book, as long as he promises to take good care of it. Caillou agrees, but when he returns home he soon realizes the book is gone. Oh no! He lost it! Feeling badly, Caillou goes to great lengths to recreate the book only to find out he left it in the preschools playground.
When Leo accidentally breaks Mr. Bones (Miss Martins model skeleton) he hides the evidence and tries to get Caillou to help him put Mr. Bones back together with disastrous results. Admitting their mistake enables Daddy to help the boys put Mr. Bones back together properly only to learn Mr. Bones is supposed to come apart!
Jeffrey and Jason are having fun making up silly names for their classmates. But they dont realize theyre hurting others feelings. Caillou isnt sure what to do until a chat with Daddy inspires him to speak up and tell Jeffrey and Jason how he feels. When the twins realize their jokes arent funny to everyone, they decide to stick to calling each other names.
Its Grandpas birthday! In an effort to keep Grandpa away from the house (for a surprise party), Caillou takes Grandpa for a walk on Blueberry Point. Caillou wants to surprise his grandfather with a basket of blueberries as a gift... and hes disappointed when he only finds a handful of berries. Grandpa insists spending time together is the best gift Caillou could give him... and hes plenty surprised when they arrive back at the house to find its full of family and friends.
Caillou is very excited to look after Hamish, the class hamster, for the weekend. Hes soooo excited, he ignores his own pet, Gilbert. When Gilbert disappears, Caillou realizes hes been unfair to his cat and sets out to make things right again.
Caillou wants to surprise Daddy with a weed-free garden for his birthday, but soon finds theres one major challenge Rosie! While Caillou wants to pull the weeds, Rosie wants to pull the flowers. Caillou tries to keep Rosie busy and out of the flower beds, but nothing seems to work, until... he realizes Rosie can pull the dandelions! Not only does Rosie help with the weeding, but she also puts together a lovely dandelion bouquet for Daddy.
Caillou likes it when Miss Martin calls him a shadow scientist... so much so, hes afraid to admit he doesnt know everything about shadows! When Caillous curiosity gets the better of him, he learns its much easier to find the answers youre looking for when you ask questions.
Daniel comes for a visit and thinks he knows how to put together a model plane... without the instructions. When the plane doesnt fly properly, Caillou finally gets the courage to point out a poorly connected piece. They fix the plane and Daniel acknowledges that Caillou knows a lot for a little kid!
Caillou has fun jumping in the fall leaves with Daddy. When Daddy cleans up all the leaves, Caillou still wants to jump. He tries a few options, but doesnt get the results he was hoping for. Finally, Caillou realizes he make his own jumping pile... out of pillows!
Caillou is afraid to go on a camel ride... especially after Leo tells him camels are mean and they like to spit! At the zoo, Caillou tries everything he can think of to avoid the camel exhibit. When Mommy and Daddy finally catch on to Caillous hesitation, they insist he doesnt have to ride a camel... but he should at least see a real camel and decide for himself. As Caillou learns about Rudy the camel from its trainer, Chloe, he feels better about camels... and finally decides to take that camel ride.
Caillou is keen to go sledding on the Big Hill... until he stands at the top of the hill and realizes it really IS BIG. Daddy senses Caillou is afraid to admit hes not ready for the big hill, and gives Caillou an easy out - by saying Rosie needs someone to play with on the little hill. Later, when Andre decides to sled down the big hill but he too is afraid Caillou helps his friend save face by inviting him to sled on the little hill with him and Rosie.
Caillou thinks hes seen a flying saucer in his yard just like the one in his comic books and hes determined to prove it to his preschool class! Trying to catch a flying saucer is much harder than he thought, and Caillou is disappointed when he eventually discovers his flying saucer is only a tin plate blowing around in the wind. Now what will he tell his friends? Caillou feels much better when he realizes he solved the mystery, regardless of what the flying saucer turned out to be.
Its a rainy day and Caillou doesnt know what to do... until Daddy discovers some old puzzles! Caillou and Daddy enjoy putting a pirate puzzle together... until they realize theres a piece missing. Seeing how disappointed Caillou is at the thought of not being able to finish the puzzle, Daddy comes up with another activity theyll go on a pirate treasure hunt for the missing piece!
Caillou has no one to play with! Mommy, Daddy, and Rosie are all busy, and Caillou is bored and frustrated... until he meets a ladybug who inadvertently shows Caillou that his family members arent the only ones who are busy so are the birds and squirrels and ants. Caillou comes to realize that everyone is busy sometimes even animals and insects and he decides to get busy too... drawing his new friends.
Caillou is having a bad day he spilled his juice and broke a toy, and hes worried his bad luck wont go away when he reads a poem at preschool the next day. When Mrs. Howard suggests that Caillou change his luck with a lucky charm, Caillou goes on a search for lucky pennies and four leaf clovers... only to realize it isnt luck he needs its confidence and practice.
Caillou finds a tiny kitten while desperately searching for his beloved Rexy. He wants to keep the kitten, even though Mommy and Daddy say no they have Gilbert! When Samantha comes to the door to claim her lost kitten, Whiskers, Caillou fetches the kitty... and finds Rexy! He remembers it isnt fun losing something you care about, and happily returns the kitty to its rightful owner.
Grandma has knit Caillou a wonderful sweater. He loves it and wears it every day even after it gets dirty! Finally, on a hot day, Caillou decides to take it off. When he accidentally leaves the sweater in the playground and goes home for the day, he worries something terrible has happened to it. Grandma will be so upset with him! When Mommy and Caillou return the next day to find the sweater is fine, Caillou vows to never wear it again. He decides to keep it in his drawer, nice and safe until Grandma explains its okay to wear the sweater its meant to be worn - just not everyday.
Caillou is feeling frustrated while trying to build a model truck. He decides he wants to quit! Daddy suggests Caillou take a break and join him on an errand. Together, they stop by Erics dig site, where Caillou learns a little bit about archaeology and he learns that some things take time and effort, but the effort is worth it in the end. Caillou returns home to finish his model, and is proud that he did.
The preschool has a visitor Liz, a musician. She shows the kids all sorts of instruments and Caillou is excited when hes chosen to be the orchestras conductor. In fact, hes so excited, he cant stop conducting those around him at preschool and even at home! When Caillou refuses to share his conductors baton he soon learns how easy it is to hurt others feelings and how it feels better to give others a turn.
Captain Caillou and Fantastic Leo are enjoying flying around the house, pretending to be superheroes. Only, they cant seem to share the task of saving the world! Each wants to be the big hero in charge of their important rescue. When Daddy asks them to lend a hand in weeding out the wild weed ogres, Caillou and Leo come to realize things would go a lot smoother if they worked together.
After watching a nature show about lions, Caillou decides he wants to be a lion! He roars and paws his way around the house, causing Mommy and Daddy to remind him that theres a time and place for everything. Caillou realizes the downside of being a lion when his roars scare a baby in the park. He decides there really is a time and place for everything and sometimes, he just needs to be a boy.
Caillou is disappointed to learn his class trip to the fire station is cancelled... and theyre going to a butterfly conservatory instead. Caillou thinks butterflies are boring... until he sees them for himself, and learns about butterfly metamorphosis.
Grandma plans to coach Caillous soccer team while Grandpa recovers from an injury. Caillou is excited about this until Grandma proves to have some unusual training methods. She insists her strange drills will make the kids better players. But it isnt until the kids first game that they realize Grandmas strange and different methods are working they are turning into better players!
Caillou isnt too happy when Miss Martin is away and his preschool class has a substitute teacher Mrs. Shelley. She does everything differently and isnt familiar with the usual routines. When Caillou tries to see things from Mrs. Shelleys perspective, he decides to give her another chance... only to realize how wonderful Mrs. Shelley really is... even if she isnt Miss Martin.
Caillou makes pizza for dinner with his family, and learns that home-made pizza can be just as good as the fast-food pizza they have delivered to their door... and its fun to make!
Mommy and Daddy are gone overnight and Grandpa and Grandma are babysitting. Caillou and Rosie are excited, until they realize Grandma and Grandpa do things a little differently than their parents. When Grandpa reads a bedtime story with different (and funnier) voices, Caillou realizes different can be good.
Caillou is hesitant to try bowling, until he gets to the bowling alley and sees how much fun his friend, Sarah, is having while bowling. Caillou gives it a try... and he likes it!
Caillou wants to run a marathon, just like Daddy. His father explains that marathons are for grown-ups, but Caillou insists he can do it! Caillou and Daddy go running together, and Caillou discovers its harder than it looks. When he sees Rosie dawdling along, Caillou realizes that everyone runs at their own speed and ability and he decides to run a mini-marathon instead!
Caillou likes sailing with Daddy and Grandpa. Only, he wants to be Captain! Grandpa and Daddy try to convince him that his job as Lookout is very important, but Caillou isnt convinced... until he helps them find Treasure Cove by spotting various landmarks and leading the way.
Rosie has had a growth spurt and Caillou wants one too. He tries desperately to grow bigger by eating lots, and exercising, and even trying to sleep during the day. But nothing works! When Caillou sees that his friend Andre doesnt always like being big because he cant do some of the fun things he did when he was little Caillou decides its okay to be little... at least for a little while longer.
Caillou wants to learn how to roller skate... until he realizes roller skating is very difficult. With a little help and guidance from his pre-teen friend, Daniel, Caillou decides to keep practicing, so his skills will improve just like Daniels did!
Caillou wants to take a picture of a bunny rabbit in Grandmas garden, but it proves a harder task then he originally thought. With a little perseverance (and a little lettuce from the garden) he finally sees the task through to the end and gets a photo hes proud of!
Clementine can whistle, and Caillou cant! Caillou tries his best to learn and practices every where he goes... but he just cant seem to get the hang of it and this embarrasses him. Mommy and Daddy reassure him this skill will come with time, but Caillou feels much better when he realizes there are things he can do that Clementine cant do like wiggling his ears!
While shopping for a birthday present for Clementine, Caillou and Leo decide to go halvsies on a toy shuttle. They try to share it, but squabbles inevitably arise. When Caillou worries that Leo isnt talking to him anymore he finally realizes his friendship is more important than any toy. Luckily for Caillou, Leo thinks so too! In the end, the boys decide to gift the toy shuttle to Clementine who is all too happy to receive it.
Grandpa is coaching Caillous soccer team, and Caillou really wants to impress his Grandpa. So when the team starts losing, and Caillou begins to bumble on the field, Caillou decides he doesnt want to play anymore. Grandpa explains that win or lose, its all about having fun. Hes proud of Caillou, no matter what. With renewed enthusiasm, Caillou rejoins the team to have fun playing the game.
Caillou is very proud when Miss Martin makes him Safety Helper for the day. He takes his job very seriously, and even prevents Jeffrey from going down the slide head-first. So when the job is passed on to Leo the next day, Caillou feels crushed... until he overhears some students repeating his safety lessons, and realizes they took his message to heart.
Caillou is helping Mommy take care of a raspberry bush. When he promises to bring his preschool pals some raspberries, he realizes he needs to see his promise through. But its hard waiting for berries to ripen, and it seems to take forever. When they do finally ripen, Caillou realizes good (and delicious!) things are worth waiting for.
Daddy is building an ice rink in the backyard, only Caillou cant wait to skate. When his impatience almost ruins the rink, Caillou realizes that things take time... and good things are worth waiting for.
A spaghetti dinner (and a lot of giggling) result in Caillou getting the hiccups. Daddy thinks he knows how to cure them, and together, they embark on a series of hiccup-curing trials. But none of them see to work! Mommy insists the hiccups will go away on their own - as long as Caillou doesnt make a big deal of them... and shes right!
Caillou wants to be an amazing magician and has Grandma got a trick for him! She shows Caillou her composter, and soon, Caillou is determined to make gardening gold appear all on his own. Mommy and Daddy are very impressed when Caillou the magician eventually turns their household scraps into compost!
When Daddy must cut down an old decaying tree, Caillou is upset. Where will the birds and squirrels will live? He and Daddy make a visit to a tree farm, where they buy a big new tree to replace the old one.
When Miss Martin asks the class to think up ways to save water, Caillou takes it to heart. He tries to stop taking baths, and wants to stop brushing his teeth, but Mommy, of course, wont let him. When Caillou notices a dripping faucet hes amazed to learn how leaking tap water really adds up giving him an even better idea of how to conserve (and reuse) water!
