
Every Holi in Devtali, a death is blamed on the mythical demon, Shankasur. Inspector Vishwas investigates the latest death, only to uncover an unsettling truth about the alleged divine punishment.

Newly transferred to Guhagar, Inspector Vishwas hears about Devtali village, where someone dies every Holi night. While villagers believe it to be divine punishment, Vishwas decides to investigate.

A dead body is found and identified as Rajan. The police initially suspect Shankar Mahadik, but they also keep an eye on Sadanand, Raghunath, and Ganesh, the three who play Shankasur in the play.

In the past, a boy suffered because of his alcoholic father and abusive villagers. In the present investigation, the police suspect Shankar, who confesses to fighting with Rajan, but denies killing.

In the past, the boy, influenced by stories of Shankasur, believed that they were true. Presently, forensic reports point towards a person who was in the Shankasur costume. Doubts shift to Raghunath.

In the past, the boy attacked his bully, who abused him and his mother. In the current investigation, Vishwas interrogates the actors playing Shankasur, but DNA reports flip the investigation.

In the past, the boy in the Shankasur costume killed again. Vishwas is at a crossroads as the evidence and his instincts point to different suspects. A letter leads them to the real culprit.

Vishwas travels to the culprit's hometown to ask about his past crimes, but is shocked to learn about his troublesome past. He returns to Devtali to arrest the killer, but keeps him out of jail.
