Interior designer Banjo and husband Ro arrive on Ulva to revive a derelict mansion, battling a tiny budget, island logistics and their first big test - the crumbling library.

Interior designer Banjo and husband Ro confront the ruined, mouldy hallway of Ulva House. Their dream is to transform this damp and uninviting arrival space into a lavish and welcoming lobby that chronicles the long journey the pair have been on to get to the island of Ulva.
On the wild and rugged island of Ulva, Banjo Beale and his husband Ro are pushing forward with their daring plan to renovate a ruinous house into their grand island hotel. However, life on an island off an island hits harder, with deerstalkers' gunshots cracking across the island to provide a stark reminder that life out here is wild.
Island life continues for interior designer Banjo Beale and his husband Ro, who remain determined to transform their island home. However, recent works have left large sections of the house without a roof, with a storm due to arrive.
The realities of island life are beginning to take hold for Banjo and Ro. With no access to the local pub - their lifeline to the outside world - the isolation is starting to bite. Worse still, the money is running out. For Ro, it’s a stark warning that they must scale back. For Banjo, it’s a challenge that demands creativity.
Banjo and Ro turn their attention to the heart of Ulva House: the dilapidated old kitchen. What should be a warm, bustling hub of their future hotel is currently a cold shell. Bare crumbling plaster walls, rotten cabinetry and a floor so uneven it feels like walking across waves. Before beauty can blossom, the pair must first wage war on the bones of the building. At the centre of Banjo’s vision lies a sweeping kitchen island, sculptural yet functional, the anchor of the room and the place where island guests will gather. While Ro’s chosen marble tiles - creamy, veined and incredibly heavy - are at risk from their pet pigs' muddy trotters.
