During the summer at Wedwood, Orin is sent to Camp Lakewood, a place for survival. There, he meets Lily, a girl who knows the terrain better than anyone else. Together, they explore and survive, but then the attacks begin. People start to notice that the shadows are lurking, and Orin is directly targeted.Once he returns to school with Lia and Jax, life becomes anything but ordinary. From dealing with his dragon to being dragged up into the sky by shadows, everything is spinning out of control. To make matters worse, he discovers he has living family members and a deeper past tied to the realm's leaders. On top of it all, he has to attend a formal ball with Lily, the girl he met at camp.
