A stranger arrives at the base and claims to Nick that he is a friend of the seaplane owner. While Bailey is absent, a stranger shows up at the house, asserting to Nick that he is an old acquaintance of his father —however, he is revealed to be far from it.
Bailey accompanies a general to the unveiling of a monument. The general, named Kelvin, goes back to dedicate a war monument that Bailey believes is best left forgotten.
