Meanwhile, Laurel made it clear she was sick of Sally's interfering.
David was still devastated following Leyla's confession and was on a mission to teach Nathan a lesson, if for no other reason than he'd always hated him.
Nathan provided him with the perfect opportunity when he caught Leyla leaving work and hurled abuse at her for being cheap and easy.

Laurel was at the end of her tether with Sally's interfering and told her in no uncertain terms that if she needed help, she would ask for it.
Sally took this quite well but was fuming when Laurel told her she wasn't invited to Ashley's birthday celebrations.

However, even Ashley was in no mood to insist she join in and Sally was at the end of her jealous tether.
Laurel found her doing the church correspondence and blasted her for deliberately interfering.

Laurel worked on the church correspondence not realising the grave danger she was in until it was too late.
The heater set fire to the curtain and within seconds, the flames were raging through the building.
Laurel had lost her phone and her only chance of getting help was to ring the church bells.
The village was in shock following the church fire and worried sick about Laurel.
However, Laurel eventually regained consciousness and was receiving visitors that evening.
She was confused when Ashley told her the church doors had been open when he went in to save her.
