
Des moves in with a Beijing family, enrols in college and begins his quest to conquer the language. Things take a turn for the better when he teams up with his buddy Leo whom he first met in Ireland over ten years ago.
In order to keep his wits sharp, Des sets up a comedy club in downtown Beijing. His brother Aidan pays a welcome visit and performs on the opening night. Everything is going well right up to the point where Des finds himself overpowered by grandmothers at a marriage market…
It’s five months into Des’ Chinese adventure and he journeys up to the north of the of the country to take up a summer job in a family run restaurant where food gives the language a whole new meaning.
Des and his friend Leo head off on a tour around China in search of the strange and unusual customs and cultures that make this amazing country so unique.
With Des’ deadline to perform a stand up comedy show in Chinese is getting close he joins forces with a local amateur comedy troupe to establish a western style stand up scene in Beijing.
Time is up. Des has to walk out into the spotlight and perform a stand up comedy show – in Chinese. Along the way he swoons a dozen beautiful contestants on a TV dating show.
