This week, Bobby Judo cycles Shimanami’s bridge-hopping islands, chasing sea views and the easy kindness of island life.

Our rider travels in Shimane Prefecture in western Japan and comes across unique locals like a clam fisherman and a blacksmith. He also experiences a traditional form of dance called Kagura.

Starting in Aomori Prefecture located in the northern tip of Honshu, our traveler makes his way through a beautiful lake and mountains while learning about local apple growing history and soul music.

The area around 'Jingu' the Grand Shrine of Ise, was a popular place even during the Edo period. We visited the suburban spot to check out unique lifestyles of locals on our 300km journey.

In Kochi Prefecture, our traveler rides along a shimmering stream, the Shimanto River and a vast plateau under the summer sky and samples chopped bonito, a local favorite during his 370km journey.
