Laura and Miguel rekindle their romance. Chico has a heated argument with Ana. Father Inácio introduces Miguel to Passaperto society. The town ball in Laura's honor takes place.
Dr. Escobar and Ana share a romantic moment. Cândida raises suspicions about what Miguel was doing in Passaperto. Ana despairs over a detail of the railway project in Passaperto.
