
Maria Lima is 20 years old, originally from Lisbon, is currently studying Film at the Catholic University of Porto. She has already directed several short films, among which her first film, The Elephant in the Room, stands out. Developed in a high school context, it was her final art project, completed at the Soares dos Reis Artistic School. The film was nominated for eight film festivals, including the Sophia Student Awards, Fantasporto, and Porto Femme. Another of her short films, Nenufares, an animated film, was nominated for two competitions within the Monstra Festival: Best Very Short Film and the Vasco Granja Awards. It also received an honorable mention in the Very Short Films category. She also directed another film, Fresh Sheets, which won the Ceres Award at a festival in Pontevedra, Galicia, as well as an honorable mention at Fantasporto. Although still at the beginning of her journey, Maria Lima’s career already demonstrates a strong artistic sensitivity and a promising authorial vision.
