
Himjyoti Talukdar, born in Biswanath Chariali, Assam, is an MBA by training who discovered a profound passion for cinema, shaping a distinctive path in filmmaking. He began his career in 2016 as the scriptwriter for the children’s film Marksheet, laying the groundwork for his directorial journey. In 2018, he made his directorial debut with the Assamese feature Calendar, which received critical acclaim for its engaging narrative. This was followed by his second feature, Taarikh (2025), and his third, Moromor Deuta (2026), adapted from a novel by the esteemed Assamese author Dr. Bhabendra Nath Saikia. Known for combining compelling storytelling with nuanced portrayals of Assam’s cultural and social landscape, Talukdar’s films resonate deeply with both audiences and critics. With a meticulous eye for detail and a steadfast commitment to storytelling, he continues to shape Assamese cinema, expanding its horizons and inspiring emerging filmmakers.
