
Following the 2004 acquisition of Muppet properties by The Walt Disney Company, the franchise stalled for a few years before seeing a significant revitalization with the commercially and critically acclaimed The Muppets (2011), which was followed two-and-a-half years later by the meta/standalone sequel Muppets Most Wanted (2014).
